Stupid Pasted Things

There appears to be a new movement among Elftowners who are sick and tired of seeing bios containing nothing but stupid memes pasted from around the internet. The most famous of these is known as The Motorcycle Story, and this is the story that most of the backlash is against.
This wiki-page is intended to link and coordinate all of the other pages associated with this movement. While it is also an attempt to expand the movement to other stupid pasted things that are just as rampant and idiotic as The Motorcycle Story, its primary goal is to help the movement in general.

What is a stupid pasted thing?

It is something that has been pasted into too many peoples' bios, when they should be talking about themselves. It encompasses slutty stories, stories of "true love" that are actually dumb and offensive, enormous forms, and sometimes shorter blurbs that are still as clichéed and therefore just as annoying to see everywhere.

Why ban stupid pasted things?

2006-04-09 [Kiddalee]: Hrrrm... I'm still deciding if I should allow people to post names for hating up here... I actually find it quite disgusting. Don't do it any more, please. I'm sure the other pages in this movement are fine with it. (Sorry I didn't specify that before.)

2006-04-18 [Azuri]: I took your linkys >> they are on my page now too

2006-04-18 [Kiddalee]: YaY! Spread the word. Where did you put them, exactly?

2006-04-19 [Azuri]: Something That Pisses Me Off... in the STPMO ElfTown section^_^

2006-04-21 [kittykittykitty]: Oooh I wasn't sure what to call them, but 'stupid pasted things' just about sums it up ^_^

2006-04-21 [Kiddalee]: That was my goal.

2006-04-28 [Clue]: I found another stupid pasted thing that to the best of my knowledge isn't up there. Could I put it in a wiki and put it up there?

2006-04-28 [Kiddalee]: I'll add any page that is geared against any or all stupid pasted things, as long as that idea makes up a significant enough part of the wiki.

2006-07-06 [Kiddalee]: Whee! We're over the 20 mark!

2006-07-31 [tuff ghost]: I found a terrible new one..... care to have me show you to it?

2006-07-31 [BinaryPhoenix]: Go for it...

2006-07-31 [Kiddalee]: You mean the thing or the house? I'd like to keep names out of here. If you just mean the thing, I don't mind.

2006-08-01 [tuff ghost]: errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrm. Well. It'd be soooooooooo much easier to give you the house.

2006-08-01 [Morrigon]: ...or you could just copy and paste.

2006-08-01 [tuff ghost]: -sigh- Ohhhhhhhhhkay.

2006-08-01 [tuff ghost]: Note: MAKE POVERTY HISTORY! EVERY 3 MINUTES A CHILD WILL DIE IN BRITAIN FROM POVERTY, AND EVERY 60 SECONDS A WHOLE FAMILY DIES IN AFRICA!! COPY AND PASTE THIS INTO YOUR HOUSE IF YOU CARE! This is the most pointless thing I've seen in my entire life.

2006-08-01 [Azuri]: Wow cause we all know copying and pasting saves people lives compared to oh who knows donating money to the cause

2006-08-01 [Morrigon]: It's a halfassed way to pretend you care about an issue, then just put it out of your mind because you "did your part" already.

2006-08-01 [Azuri]: So true so true

2006-08-01 [Morrigon]: heheh and so pathetic >.<

2006-08-01 [tuff ghost]: And where do people get these fucking statistics?!

2006-08-01 [Azuri]: I wish I knew, Im waiting for everyone to kick over cause someone said it wasnt cool to breath

2006-08-01 [tuff ghost]: Ah, yes. That one. It's old. So very old.

2006-08-01 [iippo]: There's also a saying that 89 percent of all statistics in these phrases are made up on the spot. Including this one.

2006-08-01 [moonscale]: I heard 79% were made up oin the spot :P

2006-08-02 [Stray Kitty]: I personally like that one. I am guilty of having the whole Abercrobie and Finch or Fitch one up in my house. That and my own 79% of stastics are made up on the spot. I mean, honestly, who really is going to go and research all these teen trends and all?

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Peole do do that. I have another stupid pasted thing thats starting to pop up in a few houses.

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: which is?

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Suicide Pasted Poem for your enjoyment... :P

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: Tis not there

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Ah! annoyance...For dome reason all the links i've made today won't work. Suicide Pasted Poem

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: That one works for me.

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: ahhhhh that poem. blah at it. according to the pastie thingies kiddies commit suiside over the simplest of things...which is true in some cases(sad as it is)

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: It really bothers me because I know people who are trying to avoid committing suicide even though they are going through stuff no one should have to live with.

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: Yea, I know how that goes. I avoided commiting suicide myself which is why those stupid pastie things really bug me.

2006-08-02 [Morrigon]: How can people actually like this sort of thing? isn't it embarassing to them? I wonder if in a couple of years they'll look back on it and wonder what in the hell were they thinking?

2006-08-02 [iippo]: It's like all these things are particularly aimed at the emo group. And that makes all the emos look really stupid, too. :/ Really generalising.

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Yes...emos are stupid...not emus though

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Emus are peopl who are sort of emo in the sense that they cut or are suicidal, but they don't do it for attention or want to. They keep it a secret and try to stop.

2006-08-02 [iippo]: Emus are birds. Suicidal non-attention seeker teens are just normal teens, imo.

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: lols Thats just because I like Emus and have emu socks

2006-08-02 [tuff ghost]: "emu" always escapes me while playing text twist.

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: Lol Emus are EBBBILLL!!! One so tried to take a friend of mines head off at a zoo once

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: They are not Evil...*sulks*

2006-08-02 [Azuri]: I didnt say evil i said ebil there is a difference you know :-P

2006-08-02 [tuff ghost]: I believe that you said EBBBILLL!!

2006-08-02 [moonscale]: Fine! Emus are not EBBBILLL.  They are ful of spiffiness

2006-08-04 [Kiddalee]: Once again: if anybody kills theirself due to a sad love life, they should never have gotten into a love life. Anybody who bases their entire identity on their love life needs to expand. Besides, it gives you the ability to love others properly, not just starve and leech for love.

2006-08-04 [moonscale]: Yes, and what happened to the different kinds of love? There is family love, friend love, religious love, and 'romantic' love. Personally, I can do just fine without the last two.

2006-08-05 [tuff ghost]: Agreed.
Cept...
I'm rather romantically in love with someone that I made up.
If I had a holodeck, life would be good.

2006-08-05 [nokaredes]: Everybody needs a good holodeck ^_^

2006-08-05 [tuff ghost]: Yes, you see... star trek should be real.

2006-08-06 [moonscale]: ummm... what is that? *is confusled*

2006-08-06 [tuff ghost]: Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!

2006-08-06 [moonscale]: *shrivels in fear as Annakin seems to be turning into Darth Vader*

2006-08-07 [tuff ghost]: And fear you shall shrivel in. Or shiver? Somehow I think that you are shivering, rather than shriveling.

2006-08-07 [moonscale]: No, I said shriveling. So I meant shriveling. An elephant is faithful 100%!

2006-08-07 [Kiddalee]: Eh? I've heard they have great memories, but faithfulness? If you mean it in the sense of loyalty, I think they're too smart to be up there 100%.

2006-08-07 [moonscale]: Dr. Seuss. "He meant what he said and he said what he meant, an elephant is faithful 100%"

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: I remember that story! Horton Hears A Who?

2006-08-10 [Stray Kitty]: I remeber that one too. And the story about the bird who wanted the huge tail and ate the berries and stuff.

2006-08-10 [iippo]: Dr. Seuss doesn't translate, and by the time I was old enough to read it in English, it didn't make any sense. It's a purely American thing, I guess. *shrugs*

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: No...its the one about the elephant who hatches an egg...And you can read english now, so read Dr. Seuss! (its the best english literature there is, after reading it you won't speak english anymore ;P)

2006-08-10 [Stray Kitty]: I loved the story about The Lorax. Reading Dr. Seuss was much more fun than reading about Dick and JAne and their stupid ball.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: Dick and Jane and their ball? o.O
lol yea stupid books for stupid people...they deserve it.

2006-08-10 [Stray Kitty]: Yes. Part of the general how to read set. Complete with some about spots. What's funny is that I wasn't a very good reader when I was little. In fact, the first book that I read and really like were the Harry Potter ones.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: Really! Thats so funny, its was almost the same thing for me. I hated reading until right before the first Harry Potter book came out. The funny thing was that then I was very good and read it only three days. Now I can read the last one in less... and I love reading.

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: Yeah, the point of reading Dr. Seuss is to learn to put letters together phonetically (hence the phonetic names he uses that aren't real words), so it definately works better for kids whose first languages are English, because they first learn to use the Latin alphabet in the English style. ESL readers are learning to adapt the Latin alphabet from the style of their mother tongue into the style of English.

2006-08-10 [Stray Kitty]: I know. I finshed the books faster than the older kids. I think the librariean liked that. You see there was a long waiting list and the faster people finished them the less complaints she had to deal with.
I read the 5th book in 1 day.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: Good point. But not always true. English isn't my first language. By now its my best though. :(

2006-08-10 [iippo]: Heh, I timed myself with the 5th book - 17 hours XP (Note, I got it on friday and my finals were on monday, s oI had to rush it so I could finish it before the exams started)

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: You're crazy! I like you...that sounds exactly like one of the crazy things I would do.

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: I don't remember how fast I did the 5th book, but I believe I read the whole series through the 6th in 2 weeks. By the end, I was so jittery! It was as if Harry's fear of dark wizards being everywhere had carried on to my own brain. I wasn't suspicious, but quite vigilant.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: My mother actually forbade me to read them at one point. I I would get very depressed or angry and she thought it was the books! I'm not sure if that was even true but it could be. I was sad because I couldn't have magic.

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: I think this world is good enough without it.

2006-08-10 [Stray Kitty]: So what pretend games do all of you play when you were little? I remember playing The Princess Game, where my little brother would be evil and I would rescue the princess.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: My brother and sister and I would play town. We would each build a house and have some jobs. It was so much fun! I miss that.

2006-08-10 [Kiddalee]: I used to roleplay by myself that I was a unicorn in Mario World. I didn't like playing House or Town or anything with my sisters. They were too domineering and rude.

2006-08-10 [moonscale]: Thats why we stopped. We fought too much. And we all have our own things now.

2006-08-11 [iippo]: Hmm, we made "houses" in the forest and then "ate" nature things... like rotten wood was meat, sand was flour for baking cakes, berries were berries, some flower-things were fish etc... And we'd visit each other and cook. The swings were planes in case we wanted to go abroad, and the big wooden garden swing was a train.
But most of the time we played animals, and especially horses in school. o.O

2006-08-11 [Stray Kitty]: I remember we used to play a game on the big metal dome (creatively named The Big Dome and yes there was a Little Dome). It was called Red Hot Lava Monster. Basically one person would be It and they would try to get the kids up on the Dome. I remember that I was the one that came up with the idea to only have one person be It.
We also played Pokemon. And at home we'd play Godzilla. I actually wrote stories about that stuff. It's somewhere. I think Mom's saving it for whenever I get too cocky about my writing.

2006-08-15 [Kiddalee]: I don't think it should bring you down. If you wrote stuff that good when you were that young, you should be happy about it. I mean, it won't be as good as what you write now, but you were a kid, so the standards are different.

2006-08-15 [Stray Kitty]: Still, keeps me from thinking I'm professional. Oh the plot holes. Though, on a brighter side, I've read books that aren't as good as my writing. Clovermead was one. Dear God it was horrible. The dialogue was stilted, the plot was erractic, and the main character was quite stupid. It even had a lost heir.

2006-08-15 [Stray Kitty]: Oh and if you saw some of the poems I wrote you'd change your mind. They're full of all the angst of a seventh grader who does not like to make her poems rhyme. So glad I wasn't born 3 years ago, I probably would've ended up as an annoying angsting emo kid.

2006-08-16 [Kiddalee]: Eh? That doesn't make sense to me. If you were born 3 years ago, you wouldn't have been old enough to be an annoying angsting emo kid until 2012, and what if that type of kid is out of style by then? Or did you mean you're glad you weren't born 3 years later than your birthdate?

2006-08-16 [Stray Kitty]: THe latter one. Definately had emo potential then. The whole agnst, and refusing to rhyme. And the whole nonconformist thing.

2006-08-16 [Morrigon]: I honestly think emo will be around forever. Just lately it has been given a name. Throughout history there's always been someone whining about everything hehe.

2006-08-17 [Stray Kitty]: Yeah, I think it happens to everyone around 12 and 13. So glad I'm over that. I personally, can't stand when people go around with bad attitudes. It spreads.

2006-08-17 [Metalelf]: I don't mind bad attitudes in itself because some people can't help it. But I do dislike kids who fake a bad attitude because they think it makes them cool.

2006-08-17 [Morrigon]: Actual depression happens to a lot of people. I've been through it but I just wrote down my thoughts and actually went to therapy for it and got better. A lot of times people don't even try to feel better about life, they get more attention and it's somehow "easier" if they just wallow in self pity, over nothing.

2006-08-17 [Metalelf]: I used to have depression too...too bad the therapy didn't help though =p but I hear of SO many kids who fake depression because they think it's cool.

2006-08-17 [Kiddalee]: I'm prone to depression. Last time I had anything to do with psychiatrists, they didn't help. They were too busy treating me like a textbook subject to actually help me. Anyways, I got better on my own simply by improving my circumstances.

2006-08-17 [Morrigon]: I guess I was really lucky. My psychiatrist was awesome. She treated me like a person and I was the one who chose my method of therapy depending on what felt right.

2006-08-17 [Kiddalee]: How old were you when you had a psychiatrist? I was just a teenager, and that could have affected how well I was treated.
I more deeply suspect that the common practises of the medical system in Southern Ontario is to forget that we are not cases, but persons. Conventional doctors just aren't social workers around here. Then they wonder why everybody's flocking to Eastern and Holistic naturopathic types.

2006-08-18 [Morrigon]: I was 16/17. just recently went through things that were pretty heavy and as a result, was quite depressed.

2006-08-18 [Metalelf]: I was 13 the first time and 15 the second...neither time really worked. I just kind of waited to get better.

2006-08-18 [Kiddalee]: I was 15.

2006-09-06 [Morrigon]: there's a difference between depression, and stress for normal day life. For me I had huge amounts of anxiety over seemingly nothing, panic attacks, then just sitting in my room by myself afraid to go anywhere because life felt so unsteady. Depression for me seemed irrational, coming from nowhere. I didn't know why I felt so depressed, all I knew was that I was extremely depressed heh. It's hard to explain for me.

2006-09-07 [Morrigon]: sometimes people tend to be dramatic.

2006-09-08 [Kiddalee]: Bah. If you want to be dramatic about a false depression, why not have temper tantrums?

2006-09-08 [Morrigon]: People do it other ways. find out what depression is and then milk it for every drop.

2006-09-08 [Kiddalee]: Are you griping about emo kids? I consider that missing the point of this conversations.

2006-09-09 [Morrigon]: No, but you're not listening, so same can be said about you. meh. well fuck this then.

2006-09-09 [moonscale]: Who me? I am definitely not dramatic, but nevermind.

2006-09-09 [Stray Kitty]: What on earth does this have to do with Pasted Things?

2006-11-08 [Metalelf]: Ummm...emo kids like pasting things?

2006-11-08 [iippo]: That's a generalisation, so for the sake of the point, yes.
Of course, you can find an emo kid who doesn't like pasted things, but that goes for all generalisations.

2006-11-08 [Metalelf]: Yeah. I was just grasping at straws trying to think of some possible reason why the Stupid Pasted Things wiki turned to a discussion about emo kids o_O

2006-11-09 [iippo]: Ah. ^^ I didn't remember the conversation above... It's like so last month :P

2006-11-09 [Metalelf]: Yeah...it's been a while since there was much of a conversation going on on this page...

2007-07-08 [NOOOPE]: HAHAH! Sorry. I'm randomly here to celebrate that all of this stuff is going to DIE!!! HAHAHAH!!

2007-07-08 [Paul Doyle]: Yes! The little poopers will have their grace period, and then it's RELEASE THE HOUNDS time with salvos of good Guard reports. Mwahaha!

2007-07-08 [Jitter]: Finally!Just saw it :D:D *goes for a shovel tour* /cackle
